“My goal is to make sure our law firm runs smoothly so our attorneys can focus on practicing law and meeting the needs of our clients efficiently and successfully,” says Candyce. She believes that “knowledge, resources and networking are the key to success” so she is actively involved with the Association of Legal Administrators, the Legal Marketing Association, the Society for Human Resource Management, the International Legal Technology Association, Oregon Women Lawyers, the Law Practice Management Section of both the American Bar Association and the Oregon State Bar, and has served as a subject advisor for the Lane County Bar Association’s Computer Technology Section.
Candyce started her legal career around 30 years ago by obtaining certifications as a Legal Secretary and in the General Principles of Property and Liability Insurance, while also taking courses at American River College. This solid foundation helped Candyce as she advanced her career as a paralegal for attorneys handling personal injury matters. She has worked for three of Oregon’s most reputable law firms, including four past Oregon State Bar presidents. She joined Luvaas Cobb in 2006 and looks forward to continuing her professional accomplishments by obtaining certification as a legal administrator.
Candyce says, “My children inspire me!” and while her professional achievements are important to her, her kids motivate her to be better each day. Candyce spends her weekends exploring all Oregon has to offer, with a particular focus on visiting waterfalls. In addition to hiking, she enjoys cooking, gardening (“mostly weeding” she quips), and spending time with family and friends. Candyce places a lot of value on a good sense of humor and likes to quote Buddy the Elf, “I just like to smile, smiling is my favorite.”
